2018 Results

2018 Review of Accomplishments:

 

As a Club:

Hosted another successful wrestling Tea Youth Tournament with 550 wrestlers participating.  Club participation numbers have plateaued with 99 registered wrestlers.  Our goal is to have 10 wrestlers from 6th grade going into 7th.

 

AAU State

Our first state tourney 10 years ago we had 3 state qualifiers with 2 place finishers, this year we had 30 qualify with 20 place finishers (5 State Champions, 5 Runner-ups).  This sets a new record for the number of wrestlers in the finals.  We had 72 wrestlers participate at Districts with 66 placing. We have crowned a total of 21 AAU State Champions & 23 Runner-ups & 126 Place finishers. BUILDING TRADITIONS!!

 

Team Accomplishments:

Tea Tournament 2nd place team trophy

Vermillion Team Championship trophy

Dual Team Tournaments:

Marshall - 2st Place - 3-1 record (lost to Marshall by 4 points)

Harrisburg - 1st Place - 5-0 record

Aberdeen - 1st Place - 4-0 record

Madison - 2nd Place - 3-1 record (lost to Harrisburg by 3 points)

Overall Dual Record: 15-2

 

Austin Schoppert received the "Perseverance Award" at the Sanford Keloland Pentagon Media Group Banquet.

 

We will recognize all of the youth AAU State Place winners with their names on stairwell walls going up to the wrestling room.

 

Giving Back:

Paid for entry fees for our wrestlers to attend 5 tournaments.

Purchased sublimated shirts for all State Qualifiers.

Cost sharing summer camps for wrestlers - $5-6K contribution.

Contributed to purchase of new wrestling mat.
